"Why I Switched from Saving Lives to Writing Medical Thrillers".

After 30 + years working as a Registered Nurse in Ontario ICU's, trauma units, public health and long term care, you'd think I'd seen enough life and death drama to last a lifetime. But it turns out, those experiences were just the beginning of my storytelling journey. Today, I'm channeling decades of real medical horror stories into fiction that explores the darker side of healthcare.

Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction.

The Healthcare Reality that inspired fiction:

During my nursing career, I witnessed things that would make perfect thriller plots - if they weren't so tragically real. Unexplained deaths that raised questions, medical errors that changed lives forever. The exhaustion and burnout that pushes healthcare workers to their breaking point. Substance abuse behind closed doors. Egotistical surgeons whose arrogance endangered patients.

These were not isolated incidents - they were the hidden realities of healthcare that patients and families rarely see. As I moved through the different roles I held from the ICU bedside care to administration, I collected these stories like dark pearls, never knowing they would eventually become the foundation for my medical thrillers.

Being a brain tumor patient was the trigger to start writing. Not only did those pearls of wisdom from my career blossom, but now I had the distinct advantage of experiencing first hand, brain surgery and recovery as a patient. Not for the faint of heart by the way!
