Jenny's Medical Thriller Blog

From Healing to Revealing:

Writing medical thrillers allows me to explore the ethical dilemmas and human dramas I witnessed throughout my nursing career. In my debut novel, "The Triggering Scent" I weave together medical malpractice, brain surgery complications, and murder - all grounded in the kind of authentic medical detail that only comes from years of hands - on healthcare experience.

What readers can expect.

My medical thrillers are not just entertainment - their windows into the real world of healthcare. I know as a reader that I appreciate the authentic medical details, the realistic hospital politics, and the way my nursing background adds credibility to every plot twist. Whether you too are a fellow healthcare professional, or an avid reader of medical thrillers, your craving for authentic medical drama will be satisfied.

Why a Nurse as a unique view of medical thrillers!

Most medical thrillers are written by physicians who are able to speak to diagnosis, treatments and processes from their world. Nurses have a deeper understanding of what really happens. We are at the bedside 24/7, often calling physicians to get orders that need to be implemented in response to changes in the patients conditions. We are the eyes and ears of the system to keep people alive. We see the changes. We interpret those changes and we act on them within out scope of practice.

We also deal not only with the patient, but their family and loved ones. We are the ones holding their hands as we disconnect the life support equipment. We are the ones listening to the stories, allowing the memories to flow, and celebrating the lives lost.

We also experience loss and we actually know what it feels like to lose a patient! When I write my medical thrillers, I am bringing real life experience to each page. My characters are real life professionals with expertise, trauma and moral complexity that comes from the territory.
